Role Description

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications prepared by architects to determine the layout of construction sites and ensure building code requirements are met.
  • Cut, shape, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, and other materials according to specs.
  • Measure and mark cutting lines on materials, using ruler, pencil, chalk, and marking gauge.
  • Install structures and fixtures, such as windows, frames, floorings and trim, or hardware, using carpenter's hand and power tools.
  • Work with suppliers to obtain necessary material while staying within budget.
  • Liaising with clients to discuss project details, budgets and timelines.
  • Consulting with other construction professionals to ensure the best possible results.

Qualifications

  • Strong carpentry skills, including experience with framing, finish carpentry, and hand and power tools.
  • Experience in interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Ability to accurately measure, cut, and shape materials using various power tools.
  • Experience in millwork and joinery skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team.
  • Experience in the construction industry and working on construction sites.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of building regulations and codes.
  • Physical capability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time and lift heavy objects.
  • Completion of an apprenticeship program or a diploma in carpentry is a plus.
  • Must be dependable and have a good work ethic.
  • Ability to learn, listen and collaborate with the team is a must.

Hourly rate : $28.63-$36.56/hour (dependent on qualifications and skills)
